How to make Gajar Ka Halwa



Gajar (Carrot) is available in Winter season. Winters itself is a season of festivals and occasions. Lets make Gajar Halwa today for the guests who are about to visit your house to greet you.

Ingredients for Gajar Ka Halwa

  • Carrot - 1 kg.
  • Sugar - 250 gms.
  • Mawa - 250 gms.
  • Desi ghee - 1 table spoon.
  • Raisins - 1 table spoon (separate the stems)
  • Cashews - 25-30 gms. (cut each into 4-5 pieces)
  • Coconut - 1 table spoon (grated)
  • Cardamom - 5-6 (peel and beat it)

Method - How to make Gajar Ka Halwa

Buy 1 kg. red carrot from the market, wash and peel them. Grate all the carrots in a separate bowl.
Roast the mawa in pan on a medium flame and take it out in a separate bowl
Put the grated carrots into the pan. Add sugar to it and stir it continuously at shorts intervals. The carrots will start to boil leaving its juice. Stir it after every 5 minutes and cook till the entire water gets burned into the pan. You will see that the carrots have turned tender.
Now add ghee into the carrot and roast it.  Add raisins, mawa to it and mix them well. Stir it occasionally and cook for 4-5 minute. Turn off the flame. Put pistachios and cardamom into the halwa and mix well. Gajar Halwa is ready.
Take it out in a serving dish and garnish it with grated coconut. Serve it hot or cold as per your taste and preference.
